Perhaps some of you guys in Connecticut remember the Danbury Trashers.
This was a minor league hockey franchise that played in the now defunct
United Hockey League from 2004 through 2006. I knew of them as I used to
follow the Flint Generals, who played in that same league.
Long story short....they were founded by a guy who made his fortune in the garbage
business, which is always tied to the mob, at least here in the Northeast. He bought a
professional hockey franchise and then made his 17-year old son the General Manager!
The team folded after this owner was convicted on a Federal racketeering charge!
The whole wild, strange story can be read here.

The team was called the Trashers because its owner was in the trash business.
They did have one of the coolest pro sports logos EVER!

As a lifelong Connecticut resident I had heard of the team, but I didn't know anything about them except for the "alleged" connection to the Mafia/Mob.
When I saw the name "Trashers" and the logo for the Danbury Trashers, I instantly thought of Oscar the Grouch.
