After close to 31 years in business Illusions Dance Club in Wolcott, Connecticut is closing its doors forever on May 9th. The owners are retiring. The property has been sold and eventually something else will take its place. Illusions opened in 1984 and was a Top 40 Night Club. In the late 80s they switched to a Country Night Club and was the first such venue in the state of Connecticut. They helped get Country 92.5 established with weekly broadcasts from the club. I served as DJ Trainee there from 2010 until 2011. At that time they were a MIX of Country, Top 40, Hip-Hop, and Classic Rock. In 2013 they added a Karaoke Lounge.

Marc's note: I wish my friends - The Burby Family the best of luck in the future.

Wow... I've been to Illusions a few times. Think of some of the businesses that are gone now. Popular Supermarkets, Franks Supermarkets, House and Hale, D&L, Seaparks, Barker's and my friend's family business Colvin Marine.
