Walmart enters refurbished goods business in face of recession

Citing the effects of a looming recession on consumers' pocketbooks, Walmart has announced that it will begin selling selected refurbished goods.  This includes computers, home entertainment gear and assorted appliances.

Factory refurbished items have long been a staple of cut-rate retail chains like Ollie's and Gabes but this is new territory for Walmart.  This is being done in anticipation of tightening consumer budgets and reduced disposable income under the double-whammy of inflation and recession.

I think I am one of the few on this board who was alive back in the 70's when we had this going on, and I can tell you it's no picnic.
