Does anyone remember these stores?  What happened to them?

I don't know them but i think they were part of Neisner...

Ames acquired Neisner in 1978 and that is why there is a "Big N" in some of the past Ames logos ...

When Ames acquired Neisner, the majority of the stores they retained and converted to Ames were Big N stores.  A few of the larger Neisner stores became Ames, but most were too small for the Ames model and were closed or sold.  Neisner had already converted most stores big enough for the concept to Big N prior to the sale to Ames.

I'm pretty sure this Ames was a Neisner's "Big N" store before it was Ames. According to a small GOB article I found on the web. It's hard to find info about this company for some reason.

Found several articles on this chain.

Apparently, Neisner went on a "building boom" of these stores in the 1960's. Of course they company disolved in the late 1970's. I think they were all converted to Ames or closed in 1978. If found a lot of articles about former locations being demolished.

Also found this.
