Amazon is planning on opening its first "Brick and Mortar" store in Manhattan just in time for the upcoming Christmas shopping season.

Interesting. Most retailers are headed in the opposite direction.
I suppose this means they believe that an internet sales tax is at some point inevitable,
and thus there is no downside to having brick-and-mortar locations in various states.
Does seem like the one place to have a store if you are only going to have one, given both the population on a regular basis and the amount of people who travel into NYC to shop during the holiday season.
There are now 12 Amazon stores. The latest in Storrs, Connecticut. 6 more are planned.
