I'm assuming that this is Afton Virginia and that is the motel/HoJo/Gas station near the end of Shenandoah (Skyline Drive, hence the name on the motel) and the beginning of the Blue Ridge parkway?
If so, I know the gas station part was still open in April, 2002 - I thought the restaurant was also, but maybe not.
Another motel gutted in Ohio
The abandoned Gary Indiana Sheraton downtown hotel.
Old classic 1950's motel.
This is the Heritage Hotel. It was part of the theme park in South Carolina that was part of the Jim Baker scandal from years ago.

Just to be fair to anyone who is reading here, the hotel has been incorporated into the National Civil Rights Museum. The room where MLK was last staying and the area where he was shot have all been restored to their former glory and many areas contain momentos, etc. wo explain how this terrible tragedy happened.
If any of the readers ever have the opportunity to visit our fair city, please be sure to take time to visit this fine museum and pay respect to a great man who was taken from us before his time.
Thanks for the forum!

What are they doing opening a hotel? They can't even spell "Fairfield" right!:D
I had to look back at the Fairfield pictures and I laughed when I saw it. Fairfiled! If it's spelled like that on the building when it opens, I'll bust a gut from laughing so hard.
This one is rather a bit disturbing......
This abandoned hotel was most recently a Days Inn, but was originally a Holiday Inn in Houston Texas.
Don't you think it would be really creepy to walk through an abandon hotel?

This abandoned hotel has a very scenic backdrop but looks to have been left for dead a very long time ago.
I always like looking at pics inside of abandoned hotels and buildings. I find them interesting in a spooky kind of way.
I love to explore abandoned hotels too! This shot was taken in the abandoned Howard Johnson's Inn in Nashville TN. The pic was taken Jan 1, 2008
