Unfortunate, but inevitable given the already sharp reduction in store count the the liquidation of the pharmacy division. It remains to be seen if someone can successfully operate a mid-sized discount store chain.

That's unfortunate. They were one of the last regional department store chains left...

Maybe they'll choose Meijer, a superstore based out of Walker, Michigan.

I don't recall Meijer having stores on the Upper Peninsula.  I could be wrong though.
It's been about twenty years since I've been there.

Shopko on the other hand was huge in that market.

Shopko will join Prange Way, Jamesway, Ames, Zayre, Bradlees, Caldor, Venture, Ayr-Way, Hills and Gold Circle in retail heaven this summer...

...That means thousand of people will be out of a job, and they'll have to either look for a replacement job, start a new career, or retire...
