My Wal-Mart was still using the small, metal carts with the "Wal*Mart Discount City" phrase on that plastic child seat thing up until last year.

Here's a Wal-Mart Discount City cart I found at the Red White & Blue thrift store in Berlin, NJ.

The local JOB LOT store stole a few carts from Walmart. Rather than return the carts to the stores they came from they steal any carts that are left on their property.

We don't have Ocean State Job Lot's where I live. There's Big Lots, and we used to have Odd Job, that closed about 2 years ago. I think I saw some Bradlees baskets in there once...

A.C. Moore re-uses some in some of their locations. Here's one with a poorly filed-off logo:

That sounds like OSJL.

That's because Walmart didn't want them anymore, so they put them up for auction. Same goes for the metal ones, too. Including ones that could be considered "current" by modern Walmart standards.

Instores are making their way to the U.S. The differences between these ones and their Canadian counterparts is the absence of the WALMART embossing on the side and an American ASTM-2372 warning label on the seat flaps. Also of note is the presence of the Walmart logo, something that was dropped in the orange Pickup era. Seen at #2146 in Amsterdam, NY.

Back in Albany, they replaced their fairly new Wanzl NA carts with a strange set of Precision Wire carts, which have lower racks and an escalator frame. I guess Wanzl NA does not make an equivalent model, hence why they have these.

Assuming by Albany you mean the two story one?

That might make sense that less companies produce such a style, since those ones designed for the escalators wouldn't be in a great deal of demand given the (overall) small number of stores that have such a setup.

Yes, that store exactly.

Most escalator carts on the market are typically made without the lower rack. And the majority of the ones that do have a rack are made by Precision Wire Products. The most common retailers for those type of carts are wholesale clubs that have multi-level parking garages.

As for these carts at this Albany store, I do not understand why they ordered them, since they do not appear to be remodeling at this time, and the carts they replaced were only 2-3 years old, which themselves replaced Unarcos manufactured in 2008, 2015, and 2016. Also, we don't typically get New-Concept PWP carts for our Walmart stores in this part of the country; instead we get their imitation carts from Wanzl NA (the 6944 seen in regular stores such as Glenville).
