I always used to go to Old Orchard when i was a kid, and we stopped by the Zayre nearby in Saco. To keep with the subject:...
That store was demolished to make way for a new bigger Shaw's. The Shaw's in the plaza will probably become Reny's wich would move it's smaller store from Biddeford.
Here's a shot of the new Reny's in Wells ME (a former Ames)
That's cool how it says "A Maine Adventure"..heh
this reny's is in gardiner maine.
Reny's is a maine based department store chain and some of them are in downtowns. they are like woolworths.

Reny's moved their downtown Biddeford store to the former Shaw's in Saco, in the plaza where Ames once was.
Inside the new Reny's in Wells Plaza. (former Ames) It really looks like Ames.

sign of the wells one and this seems to be reny's new logo.
Inside Reny's in Ellsworth. Notice the Ames A+ service checkouts. The Wells store has the same counters but is located in a former Ames unlike Ellsworth.

Ilike there stores i went to the one in wells
I remember stopping at the Belfast and Bath stores a couple years back when we were up that way (I'm not sure about Ellsworth - I know we went through there and stopped at Marden's but I'm thinking that Reny's wasn't open or we just didn't take the time to stop then).
Interesting to see the difference in the stores between Belfast, which is in a standard shopping plaza and Bath where it's a traditional downtown store with front entry from the street and back (and if I remember correctly lower level) entry from a parking area - reminds you of an old 5 and 10 set-up.
Reny's just opened a new store at the Topsham Fair Mall.

BTW, that Topsham space was a Bradlees before it was the Village Candle factory.
