Title: More Ames Photos
Post by: BillyGr on March 27, 2006, 09:17:53 PM
The first photo is the Ames in Hyde Park, NY on Route 9 - it is still vacant (as is the other anchor, a former ShopRite - there are still a few small stores in there).  The 2nd shot shows a close up of the sign, and you can see the green backing is coming loose.

The 3rd shot is the former Glenmont store - they have removed the front overhangs from it (and the neighboring former Grand Union) - the GU is undergoing renovations, but no signs of what it is going to be - this part is just sitting.

The 4th photo is the store on Hoosick Street (Rt 7) in Troy - this part of it is now a Big Lots, and the rest is still vacant.

The 5th shot is the Bennington (VT) store on Route 67A - now part of a Home Depot.

6th is the Highland store on Route 9W just south of the Mid Hudson Bridge - the center part is still vacant.

7th is the Kingston store in Kingston Plaza (off Exit 19 of the Thruway) - it is still empty also - this one is a bit different in that there was (at some point) another entry on the side of the building.

8th is the Lenox (MA) store on Route 7/20 - part is Marshalls and the rest is still vacant.

And last is the site of the former Ames (previously Hills) in the Berkshire Mall in Lanesboro (MA) - the new Target is now open there (it has a 1/2 entrance to the mall - the 1/2 being that you can enter the mall through a doorway in the back/side of the store, but there are no check-outs there, so you'd have to check out up front then walk back through the store.  Hills and Ames had check-outs at both entrances (outside & mall).

That store in Kingston is definitely a former Jamesway.
