This store is still vacant in 2009. I don't know why because it was part of the "recent" buildings in Ames portfolio. It was built as a Zayre in 1985 and has 61,710 SF of space.
The store front in October 2009.
The interior checkouts still in place.
Another view of checkout counters. You can see the lower ceiling in this part of picture, the management offices were upstairs in this area.
This photo is of the wall to the left of the front entrance, you can see the green stripe wall decor.
Receiving area behind the store.
I wonder if I put a letter in that postal box, if it would get picked up...
why is the store Still vacant and what should it become?
The store looks in very good condition inside and out.

Good question, at around 62,000 sq.ft, it's a perfect size for a supermarket but Hannaford is right next to it and Shaw's too.
It's too small for Target and Kohl's. Target has a store in Somersworth and Kohl's has a location in Rochester.
It's a store size that was perfect for Ames or Bradlees, but today, stores are larger or smaller than that. They might have to divide it.
Here's a link to the stores location.

This would be a great location for an Ocean State Job Lot or possibly if Mardens of Maine wanted to cross the border into NH this would be a good time.
