before this location closed and became a kmart it got a full renovation and a new logo it was also dubbed lake caldor by residents who lived there due to the fact that the shopping center always flooded

VERY nice picture, being from the NH and working in that area for awhile I immediately noticed the Hilltop Steakhouse giant cactus sign just south of the former Caldor on the left side of route 1.
The Caldor used to be partnered with a Star Market grocery store until Albertson's bought them and branded the store Shaw's.

I believe prior to that the Shaw's/Star was a Purity Supreme supermarket.  This particular Caldor was the one I most frequented when i was a kid.  Also in that strip on the far right was a weird men's clothing store that I don't think I ever set foot in and maybe on other small store, all since absorbed by the Target.

And here is the Southington Caldor in October 2008 as Walmart. This was 9 months before the remodel. The store opened April 15, 2000.

i wonder if they redid the inside cause caldor wouldn't normally slap a new logo on a store without fixing it up my caldor was old but they redid the entire store and put up a new logo the outside was kinda old though cant believe Wal(sprawl)mart snatched it up so fast kinda sad the sight could have been used for something much better

i wish i could find pictures  of my caldor but i have no luck over the years

it was just a stand alone caldor  with a store called vision world attached to the building it opened in late 1979 and was replaced by kohls in june 2000 i highly doubt you will find any pictures of it unless there arte any old news articles about it online somewhere but i haven't been able to find any but thanks for all the info  :)

I was pretty excited to find this price letter on an old LP from Caldor!!

I know Caldor went out 11 yeras ago, but what really killed it (Well it went bankrupt but why didnt they get out). I heard through google news that 30 years ago they were going to build one in Nashua, , I never found out why but it fell through!
