According to Wikipedia, which can sometimes be false, Stern's closed in 2001. Maybe by you, perhaps, it closed in 2003?

Hi!  I have a few more to add to ever-growing list:

Kinneys Shoes (1980's?)
Petite Sophisticate (2006)
Casual Corner (2006)

These might be regional, but they began to disappear in the MD-DC area in the late 1970's and 1980's:

Reads Drugstore
Hutzler Department store
Stewart Department store
Musicland
Merry-Go-Round
Acme Foods
Food Fair
E.J. Korvettes
Woodward & Lothrup (Woodies for the locals)

I also remembered Paul Harris that had a nice line of middle-income women's clothing.

Does it seem like we are getting less of a real selection of stores and the same generic stores all over the country????
