this is the searstown mall that was built in 1967 in leominster mass on commercial drive off rt. 2. the mall has 80 storres. the mall had a 82,5000 sf bradlees, a 149,000 sf sears. in 1975, the mall got a 31,000 sf market basket next to bradlees. the mall had a 40,000 sf sage allen. the mall was expanded and renovated in 1986-1988 and the bradlees looked like the late 1980s bradlees when I saw it 5 years ago. the mall got a 90,000 sf JC penny constructed next to the wing near Bradlees in 1994. Sage allen closed in 1992 and became service merchandise. in june 1991 Market basket moved to a 50,000 sf building near the mall and in october 1992 the old market basket became Toys r us!
service merchandise closed in 1999 with 132 others and became Circuit city in november 2000. bradlees closed early 2001. in the aerly 2000s the mall had 30% vacancy rate, but the vacany rate dramatically dropped. old navy was constructed in clsoed down mall space near the old service merchandise in early 2001. bradlees was torn down in and rebuilt into a 2 level 140,000 sf Filene's in october 2002 and located a little north of wher ethe old Bradlees was. filene's was built and no longer attached to Toys r us. Toys r us was then a stand alone buiilding (Toys r us was next door to Bradlees). the mall got Chuck E Cheese then and panera bread. searstown became mall at whitney field in like 2003. Filene's becomes macy's in 2006.
