this is a mall located near me and hears the history of it

This Mall sad to say will come to a end soon its not fully dead just yet but its on its way ive been going there ever since i was a little kid but i wont be so sad to see it go its a mall that has lost there way over the years if only they pulled a new ancore store when servie merchandise clsed off teh mall would be in better shape i dont see why they couldent get a jc penny or a filenes and such to open up in the old space.

The Jefferson Vally Mall Opened on Feb 8 1983 with ancores such as Macys Sears and Service Merchandise that mall was the place to be. At the time it was one of westchster countys first real mall.

 Through out the 80's the mall thrived by the late 1990's the mall stared to see some problmes in 1997 when a new big box ceneter opend up just 10 mins away witch has home depot wal mart marshales old navy barns and noble this attrced shoppers to go there this replaced the old Moheagan mall witch had a waldbaums Pergament a old Sears a Caldor right across the street and a Jamesway. I

n 1999 Service Merchandise closed there location due to there bankrupsci filling the store sat vacant untill 2000 when the botton of the store was turned into more mall space then the top was latter turned into a h&m witch opend in late 2001 by that time the mall was in desprate need of rentvation the mall got a new look sad to say macys and sears did not get rentvated there stores still look retro 80's.

By in 2003 and 2004 many of the malls smaller stores started to close. in 2005 with the merger of Federated and the may company will leave the furnter of this macys uncertan  because alot of the sournden malls have may compay stores that will be convertaed into macys if this dose happen this will leave the mall with just Sears as the main ancore. Earlyer this year it has been romred that the mall will expaned adding a new wing and a new ancore store but nothing has been sed or done yet but i dont think this mall will last that long unless something stated to happen.

looks like this mall is getting a minor expansion this should help keep it alive

Renovation plans seem to have stalled. Its kinda annoying since this mall could be great if they just got the right stores.
