Tonight 11/20/17 WTNH will be discussing G. FOX on their 11PM News. The Hartford based chain was merged into FILENE's in 1993. Obviously if you're in Connecticut you can watch on Channel 8. Otherwise you can watch online http://www.wtnh.com/ or download the WTNH NEWS 8 app.

I'll try, but it's a school night.
Alright, I just watched it live from my TV, so I'll give you a some bullet points.

  • It was mostly about their flagship store in Hartofrd
  • It was interesting, it talked about a fire happening in 1917 at that location
  • So they rebuilt it into its modern form a few months later
  • A toy wonderland on the 11th floor?
  • Mentions a black lady who worked at the store in the 1950's, which is pretty risky at the time
  • Some guy bought the "G" for their logo from the flagship store
  • Lastly it mentions when it closed in 1992
  • Nothing much beyond that flagship location sadly

Ironic. The teenager who has school in the morning got to watch it. Meanwhile the 30-something year old who runs this message board (me) fell asleep around 10:45PM last night while watching something on TVLAND and didn't wake back up til after Midnight.

I really wasn't supposed to. But I have a tiny TV in my kitchen, and I manged to sneak there for about 20 minutes while my dad was in bed.
