I have a semi-small collection of VHS I kept when I was throwing away most of them back in December 2014.

Anyways, my Toy Story 2 VHS has a bunch of moisture in it, yet it's so far playing fine. I don't think it's the player itself, since it's just over 13 years old. The VHS is over 15 years old, and I'm concerned about deterioration of the VHS, and I really don't that great of a environment to keep them in, but hopefully my attic could be better than my bedroom.
Anyways here's some photos of the VHS, and I guess my VHS/DVD combo player:

I scribbled on some of my VHS tapes, but they still played fine after they had been scribbled repeatedly with crayon on them

On the tape itself, or the front?

You're lucky then, but did you check the beginning ads, or the credits to see if they're damaged.

Not recently since most of them were put in boxes when we moved, but some of the Disney videos I have open with the green FBI warning screens, the Lilac "Feature Presentation" bumper, and the Sorcerer Mickey Walt Disney Home Video logo.
