Sites shutting down include Rare, Fanbuzz, Faves, Hot Topics and alt_driver. However, Clark.com will live on as an independent site, and Cox will remain partnered with Clark Howard on the broadcast side of things. The move comes as speculation grows that Cox could sell off all but its Atlanta and Dayton clusters - markets where it also owns TV and newspaper properties.

They said because they didn't have any TV stations is why COX sold their Connecticut radio stations several years ago, but they kept their Long Island  radio station stations. There was also a swap that sent KTVU FOX 2 from COX to FOX in San Francisco and WFXT FOX 25 (now Boston 25) from FOX to COX, but they don't own any radio stations in Boston. There was a rumor that COX was going to get some of the leftover radio stations in Boston from the Entercom/CBS merger, but that didn't happen either with i-Heart getting WRKO (AM), WBZ (AM), WZLX (FM), and WKAF (FM), Beasley getting WBZ-FM, and Entercom getting WMJX(FM) from Beasley.
