Brown University is in the process of selling their Alt Rock station WBRU 95.5 in Providence to the K-LOVE Christian network.

Some of WBRU's programming is expected to move to a new Low-power station coming on the air soon at 101.1 FM.

College kids don't care about getting their music over-the-air anymore. Revenues at the station had dipped to only $1 million/year, so a sale of the station seemed inevitable. I wonder how their stream-and-LPFM plan will work out; WFNX pulled the plug on their stream not long after they sold out to iHeart.

Yes, indeed, most people I know under age 25 (including my daughter) don't even OWN a radio.
I imagine colleges and universities will be in a rush to sell these stations and get out from under
the expense of running them.

Two years ago Bethany College (WV) sold their student station to Pittsburgh Public Media, which owns local jazz station WZUM.  It's a fringe signal that makes it into the western Pittsburgh suburbs.

The University of Pittsburgh student station, WPTS, runs just 17 watts.
Just about every FM translator in the area has more power than that.
