It was announced over the weekend that Ringling Bros. Barnum and Bailey Circus is going out of business.

The last show will be at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, NY (former home of the
NY Islanders) on May 21.

Reasons given were declining ticket sales, increased costs, declining attention spans of children,
and pressure from animal rights activists.   The Circus stopped using elephants two years ago,
and apparently people quit buying tickets once they did.

I have only been once....took my kids when they were small.  My parents never took me, but when
I was a small boy I did get to see them walking the elephants through Downtown Pittsburgh from the
railroad station up to the old Pittsburgh Civic Arena.  Very cool!
