Is Kroger looking to get back into the stand-alone drug store business?

Kroger could be a buyer of a number of Rite Aid/Walgreens locations slated for divestiture. KR was previously the owner of the Hook-SupeRx chain which it divested in the mid-1980s. Kroger remains a major player in the business through its vast network of supermarket-based pharmacies.

I wonder if this could be their key to finally have some presence in the Northeast and Florida where outside of Turkey Hill in Pennsylvania and the one oddball Harris Teeter on Amelia Island they have no presence in. Even as opportunities such as Acme/Shaw's and A&P have fallen out of reach, they'd have to have thought of having some presence in the only parts of the US they have nothing in.
