News: I forgot my phone when I went out and about in Southington today so no pictures. I also thought my foot was getting better, but as I walked from Goodwill to Price Chopper (next plaza over) my foot was in a lot of pain and I was walking with a limp. My foot is still in a lot of pain at 7:30PM Thursday 10/19. - Brammy

Discuss about the now defunct Six Flags New Orleans theme park which was destroyed in 2005 by Hurricane Katrina.

Thanks for posting this. I'm going to give some links here of recent videos of people exploring it when it became abandoned.

The video makers are "professional" abandoned building explorers and if you liked that video then I Recommend watching more and subscribing! My "hook video" was the abandoned bowling alley

It's a shame that Six Flags abandoned the park after Hurricane Katrina destroyed it and I don't think that Six Flags no longer owns the land the SFNO was on anymore.

You can still find at least two of Six Flags New Orleans' rides at Six Flags Fiesta Texas (Batman: The Ride, now known as Goliath) and the twin drop towers at The Great Escape.

Six Flags New Orleans is the Dixie Square of theme parks. The place is a dead, decaying mess, with faded signs, broken-down rides and non-functioning attractions.

As much as everyone would like to see places restored and returned, one has to wonder if in this case the Six Flags people were the smart ones not to spend all the $ to restore it with a constant threat of the same thing happening again due to the location?

A second hurricane hit New Orleans, Hurricane Rita, shortly after Hurricane Katrina. I'm guessing that's why they decided to sell Six Flags New Orleans back to the city.

It's sad that after Hurricane Katrina, Six Flags just abandoned their New Orleans park. Frankly I thought that New Orleans would have been a great place for a major theme park. :(
