TheFugitive

I used to listen to many of these in the late 80's/early 90's when I lived in the Thumb/Flint area.

560 at the time was WHND.  Honey Radio.  An old-school oldies station.  That was a really
impressive 500 watts making it all the way out to Flint from Monroe!

WNZK was running mostly programming in Arabic at that time.  It was interesting.
I came to the conclusion that this language cannot be spoken, only shouted.

WJR was handling both Tigers and Red Wings games at the time.  I listened to those a lot.

WWJ put in a really good signal where I lived.  I particularly remember walking to the
grocery store in a blizzard the night the Gulf War started.  People gathered around me
at the checkout to listen to the reports coming in on my little transistor radio.  I also
had it on when the Rodney King verdicts came down.

WFDF was still in Flint at that time, and was running a Big Band format.   The studio
was in some house in Burton.  I was not a Big Band fan, but would have them on because
they were the best station at that time for local Flint weather alerts.
