CBS Radio has killed off All-News 99.1 in the Washington DC/Baltimore area. All personalities have been let go at the station which is now leased out to the Bloomberg Business Radio Network. - Merry Christmas from CBS Radio.

FROM DCRTV.COM:

DCRTV hears that CBS Radio has ended the almost four-year-old news format on WNEW, 99.1. As of 10 AM Friday, the local news and mix of syndicated talkers, like Dave Ramsey, have been replaced with a fulltime relay of Bloomberg business news radio. On-air, Bloomberg is touting its "Bloomberg 99.1 Newsroom" in DC. We're told that Bloomberg is leasing the time from CBS, which, as of now, is not selling the station. Although a sale deal to Bloomberg is not out of the question, we're told. Under Bloomberg's control, WNEW will continue to air local news, traffic, weather, and sports updates and will remain the flagship station for Wizards basketball. Also, we're hearing a number of personnel cuts at the ratings-troubled station have happened this week, with most of the local news airstaff to be pink-slipped. With more CBS Radio cuts coming to its DC cluster before the end of the year. CBS started all-newser WNEW in January 2012 with hopes of cutting into the ratings and revenue of Hubbard's top-rated WTOP. However, WNEW's DC ratings never signifantly surmounted 20th place, as the station was hampered by its 99.1 signal, which is broadcast from the Crofton area and has coverage issues in Northern Virginia and the western DC suburbs. CBS tried re-orienting the all-newser to be more of a Maryland and Baltimore area station and added syndicated talkers to middays and evenings, but its ratings didn't significantly improve in the DC market.

I wonder if other shoes are going to drop?

About a week ago the hosts on CBS-owned 93.7 here in Pittsburgh were commenting on
the station getting ready for a visit from "the suits from New York".

Yes. I mentioned on the Pittsburgh Radio thread back in July they let go Jimmy Roach from Y-108. Well this time around they got rid of Jimmy's former co-host Brian "Monty" Montgomery. Also gone in Pittsburgh is Mike Flick the Assistant Program Director/Music Director/Afternoon Co-Host on Star 100.7

And at the other end of the state of Pennsylvania in Philly Andy Bloom is out as Operations Manager of Sports Radio 94.1 WIP/WPHT 1210.
