They're a small chain in southeast Michigan that features reserved seating, alcoholic drinks, all the new releases and in some locations massive screens that they call E3.

Here is the one on Allen Road in Woodhaven near the Meijer. It has three 3D screens and 1,600 seats. It's designed to resemble an industrial warehouse, as the back abuts the Ford Stamping Plant.

Yep-albeit indirectly. Behind the theater actually is undeveloped forestland, then a railroad track and then the stamping plant itself.

The new Emagine Palladium in Birmingham, Michigan opens on October 2. It will offer five screens and 540 seats, which is in contrast to the 12 screens and 2,500 seats that were offered by the theater that was formerly in this complex, the Uptown Palladium. The Uptown Palladium was part of the Uptown Entertainment chain, which is owned by the Illitch family, who also own Little Caesar's, the Detroit Tigers, the Detroit Red Wings, the Motor City Casino in Detroit and several city blocks in midtown Detroit that will soon house a new arena for the Red Wings.

The new Emagine Palladium will also be used as the location of a new concept Emagine is attempting called "Platinum Seating."

A new discovery of mine: all Emagine Theaters have received interior Google Street Views, allowing one to virtually walk through one of their facilities from the parking lot all the way into an auditorium.
