I know there was one in Utica, NY. It is now the home of APAC customer services, which is basically a telemarketing or Customer Service company. Black building, very shiny. I had never been in there.

If you look toward the botttom of this page, you see a Copyright 2006, The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc. - so apparently now owned by Bon Ton.

There are only 10 listed - all in Wisconsin.

We had two in the Albany area - Latham Circle Mall and Mohawk Mall.

There used to be one in Massena, NY, too a few years ago.  I think that space is now occupied by Eckerd and Family Dollar.

That is ironic -- because, as I just said, Massena had a Boston Store and they now have a Bon-Ton, which they got when it took over the former Chappell's chain (based in Central New York).  The Bon-Ton store is in the mall though, not in the old Boston Store.

I think the Boston Store was part of the Sak's chain, but that and a few of their other smaller chains have gone to Bon Ton.

I remember this being a clothing store, not really high end but not really cheap either. I used to get my Cub Scout uniform and supplies here until they closed and then I had to go to Sears. I think they all vanished around the late 1970's-early 1980's. My mother said when her mother died on a Sunday, the local Boston Store actually opened their doors for the family to purchase clothes for the funeral. Now that is class and customer concern
"Through the millennia, the Time Lords of Gallifrey led a life of ordered calm, protected against all threats from lesser civilisations by their great power. But this was to change. Suddenly, and terribly, the Time Lords faced the most dangerous crisis in their long history..."--the Doctor

That is the former Boston Store at Port Plaza Mall in Green Bay, Wisconsin. It is now home to Bay Lake Bank and APAC Customer Services.

This is how that same exact building looks today.

I think some of the confusion is because more than one chain has the name Boston Store.  The ones bought by Bonton were in the midwest, not in the northeast.
