After several years seeing a lot of growth the last several months has seen lots of closures on Wolcott Street in Waterbury, CT. The following have closed since the summer of 2013:

JUMP ZONE (an indoor Bounce House for kids)
Casual Male XL
Petco (Moving to The Brass Mill Commons)
TJ MAXX (Moving to The Brass Mill Commons)

It took me 3 hours, but I came up with ideas to revitalize Wolcott Street.

1141 Wolcott Street (former Buddy Billiards and I believe Hooter's sometime before that)

Demolish the building. Build Sonic.

Lakewood Plaza 855 Lakewood Road (Corner of Wolcott Street)

Building A (Build A used to be Caldor. The only thing in building A is Planet Fitness since Bernie's closed down in 2010 and Jump Zone closed in 2013. Obviously I kept Planet Fitness when I came up with my ideas).

I would put the following in Building A:

Ulta Beauty
DSW Shoes
Moe's Southwest Grill
Hair Cuttery
Charming Charlie

Building B (Building B if I'm not mistake used to be Staples and Barnes & Noble. Currently the only thing in Building B is a Goodwill Store, which I kept).

Dress Barn
Pet Sen$e (With Petco moving to the Brass Mill Commons there's no pet store in this end of Waterbury. Plus it's good location for the people who live in the neighboring town of Wolcott).

Shorpite Plaza 943 Wolcott Street

Shoprite Plaza currently features Shoprite, Sleepy's, Royal Buffet, American Steakhouse and in a separate build a Game Stop. TJ MAXX and PETCO are both moving to the Brass Mill Commons.

Former Petco - I would put Thomasville Furniture Store
Former TJ Maxx - I would put The Container Store
Former Casual Male XL (in the separate building with Game Stop) - I would put DiBella's Old Fashioned Sub Sandwiches.

Naugatuck Valley Shopping Center 920 Wolcott Street

The Naugatuck Valley  Shopping Center was built where the Naugatuck Valley Mall used to be. There are 2 big vacancies, which I came up with ideas for. There are 2 small vacancies that I did not.

Former Rag Shop: AC Moore.
Former Linens & Things: Divide between Home Goods and Five Below.

KMART Plaza 835-881 Wolcott Street

I don't know if there are any other vacancies is the plaza, but the 95,000 Square Foot former KMART is the only space in the plaza I came up with ideas for.

Denny's Restaurant
Christmas Tree Shop
Pier One Imports
Blink Fitness (it's a gym)

Mattatuck Plaza 650 Wolcott Street

Former Savers: Bed Bath Beyond
MooYah Burgers (I put them in a vacant space in between Dollar Tree and Chuck E Cheese)
Hometown Buffet (I put them in a vacant space in between Sally's Beauty and Dollar Tree. It would be the return of Hometown Buffet to Waterbury)
Harmon Beauty (of course Sally's would probably complain)

Note: I could not come up with any ideas for the vacant Ford Dealership on the Waterbury Wolcott Line nor for the 2 industrial looking buildings on the corner of Wolcott Street and Sharon Road - one which is being used in October for The Nightmare on Wolcott Street indoor Haunted House).

I also would demolish Mall-View Plaza. It's a plaza behind The Naugatuck Valley Shopping Center. It's completely vacant except for a small Chinese Buffet called Mr. Wok and Waterbury Public Access Channel 13. Technically the address is 117 Sharon Road, but there is no access from Sharon Road. Access to the plaza is from a service road in the Naugatuck Valley Shopping Center. In fact when Creative Cinemas was briefly operating in this plaza they had on their website to use 920 Wolcott Street if using GPS. 920 Wolcott Street being the address of The Naugatuck Valley Shopping Center.
