not shocked at all! I refuse to eat at chain restaurants.

Apple Bees has been struggling for years and in Ct closed many locations. Olive Garden is "fake" Italian food, both places offer crappy small portions for a lot of money.

Good thing about living in New England, you have a lot of choices when it comes to family owned mom and pop type places to eat. I rather go to a local Italian or pizza place any day over a chain restaurant. Bigger and better portions at good prices and you support the small business community.

The Applebees in the Philadelphia area are all franchised locations.  Not sure if The Olive Garden is

Red Lobster is also reporting losses for the year. Darden is in some trouble. I could see them closing locations in under performing markets soon.

The Olive Garden I grew up going to in Jacksonville, which was built around 1990 and is one of the old building styles burnt down last week- http://www.firstcoastnews.com/story/news/local/2014/01/27/fire-arlington-olive-garden/4933647/
