That silly law regarding toys in food doesn't stop fast food restaurants from putting toys in kiddie meals, but it may have stopped companies from putting prizes in cereal boxes. But then how are fast food kiddie meal toys and cereal box prizes legal?

That's because the prize is separated from the cereal or kid's meal contained within by it's own package.

Pikapower

Now a days you get no prizes in cereal boxes, but back in the day some cereals had small fun size/sample packs of candy in theme. Christmas Cap'n Crunch had one year a pack of sprinkled frosting to put on the cereal.

I blame the fact that parents don't want their kids to eat sugary cereals and eat more cereals that are low in sugar like Kix for the demise of cereal box prizes and not that law that bans non-food stuff (like toys) inside food!

They still have cereal box prizes every once in a while, but not as often as they used to.

Just last year at this time, they had SpongeBob SquarePants water squirters inside boxes of General Mills-branded cereals, including Golden Grahams, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Lucky Charms, Cheerios, etc. Each water squirter (8 of them total) had a picture of SpongeBob SquarePants characters on one side, two water squirters had a picture of SpongeBob SquarePants, other characters included Gary (SpongeBob's pet snail), Patrick Star (SpongeBob's starfish friend), Squidward Tentacles (SpongeBob's eternally cranky octopus neighbor/Krusty Krab co-worker), Sandy Cheeks (SpongeBob's other friend, the squirrel from Texas), Eugene Krabs (a.k.a. Mr. Krabs) (SpongeBob and Squidward's boss at The Krusty Krab restaurant), and Sheldon J. Plankton (Mr. Krabs' business rival and owner of The Chum Bucket restaurant).

Weren't products with Olean were pulled off store shelves due to people getting sick from the Olean being used in the products?

I just recently saw the Lays plain Fat Free cheaps, still made with Olean on the shelves the other day.  I believe they now come with a warning on the back that it may cause anal leakage.  No joke.

Pringles made a corn chip way back in the day, I used to eat the heck out of them when I was a little kid.

How is something like that even safe with the chance of getting dehydrated? Does anybody know at all if dehydration can happen if the anal leakage gets out of control?

The foods that I miss are as follows:

•   General Mills: Fruity Yummy Mummy & Berry Lucky Charms
•   All Discontinued Kool-Aid Flavors that have ever been made in existence.
•   Nesquik Banana Milk Jugs and Powder
•   Nesquik Vanilla Powder (They still manufacture the jugs though, however they are very hard to find.)
•   Chef Boyardee Canned Chicken Parmesan and Chef Boyardee Boxed Lasagna & Spaghetti Dinner Kits
•   Betty Crocker Double Cheese Pizza Hamburger Helper
•   Lipton Fiesta Sides, Nacho Pasta
•   Betty Crocker Hamburger Helper Stroganoff Microwave Singles
•   There was also a limited edition Trix Cereal Flavor back in the early 2000's that I loved. It contained two fruity flavors in one cereal piece which were banana and another flavor that I can't think of.
•   Quaker Cap'n Crunch's Oops! Smashed Berries (This was made right after The New Millennium back in the days where there were no green berries. After this was discontinued, they added the green berries in 2002/2003.)
•   Long John Silver’s Baked Cod Fillet Meal
•   Arby’s Limited Edition Chicken Parmesan Sub

Long John Silver's just recently re-released their Baked Cod Fillet Meal, however it is a different cut from the piece of the cod now. At the same time, they no longer put the seafood crumb topping on top of the finished product. This really stinks. This was my #1 favorite dish that they made and now that they brought it back they completely changed their recipe from the original recipe that they had before.

"NEW! Coke" was discontinued in the mid 1980s only to be brought back in the 1990s as "Coke II" for a short period of time, then get discontinued again. I guess there were a few people that actually liked it.  ???

The Big King burger made its return to Burger King's menu. This time around, the Big King is no longer just a double burger, and has a middle bun, just like the McDonald's Big Mac.

When I was very young my dad used to buy us Funny Face Drink Mixes.
They were a direct competitor to Kool Aid, and I think they sold for a few
pennies less (likely why he bought them).

They quit selling them because they had what were, in retrospect, some politically
incorrect and racially insensitive cartoon characters on the package for the various
flavors.  "Injun' Orange" had an orange with Indian warpaint and headdress.  "Chinese
Cherry" had a cherry with a horribly stereotypical Chinese face on it.   Etc.

Later my mom got on a health food kick, so he would have had to quit buying them anyway.

I used to love the taco kid cuisine's. It was just something about the subpar tacos that when it mixed with the cheese sauce made it taste delicious. I haven't had anything like it since.

Several Nabisco products from my childhood come to mind.

Cheese Tid-Bits - These were cheddar cheese flavored crackers, a bit like Cheez Its, except that
they were finger-shaped.  They were sticks about an inch long by 1/4 inch wide, and rounded at
the ends.

Mr. Salty - Nabisco's brand of stick pretzels.  Unlike most pretzels they came in a box.

Doo Dads - A sort of party mix that was made up of Cheese Tid-Bits, Mr. Salty Pretzels,
peanuts, rice and wheat Chex.

My grandparents always had boxes of this stuff lying around their house.
I remember one time they had a big fight after my grandfather came to bed with
Cheese Tid-Bits in the shirt pocket of his pajamas.

Stork of The Weak

It's amazing to think Nabisco was once owned by RJ Reynolds, a tobacco company (and yes primarily a cigarette manufacturer).

It's amazing to think Nabisco was once owned by RJ Reynolds, a tobacco company (and yes primarily a cigarette manufacturer).

RJR Nabisco also owned the Kentucky Fried Chicken and Zantigo Mexican restaurants until 1986 (RJR Nabisco purchased both restaurants  from Heublein), which they sold to PepsiCo. A majority of the Zantigo restaurants were converted to Taco Bell, except for one location in Minnesota. Zantigo would be re-established nearly 25 years later by former Zantigo managers as an upscale Mexican restaurant chain serving Minneapolis and the surrounding area.

Today, KFC and Taco Bell are owned by YUM! Brands, and Nabisco is currently owned by MondelÄ"z International Inc.
