Steinberg's (later simply Steinberg) was a Canadian supermarket chain led for much of its history by Sam Steinberg. A series of failed investments and the lack of a succession plan set off a power struggle within the family that led to the chain's demise. That struggle was immortalized in a documentary called "After Mr. Sam" which can be viewed at the National Film Board of Canada site:

Steinberg's is an interesting story.  They were so well known that in the province of Quebec, instead of saying: "I'm going to do my groceries" people would say "I'm going to do my Steinberg's".

Steinberg's was founded by Sam Steinberg.

A fun fact is that Sam's wife was named Helen.

Same names as Sam Walton and his wife Helen for Walmart.

Just for clarification...there was also an OH/KY/IN electronics store chain named Steinberg's, of no relation.
