Albertsons LLC (not to be confused with the Supervalu-owned banner) will soon be down to only four stores in the Sunshine State. The decison likely signals Albertsons' intention to eventually shut down its Florida Division.

The context of this decision is unmistakable. Delhaize recently closed all of its Food Lion stores in Florida. Money-losing Winn-Dixie (based in Jacksonville) recently sold out to BI-LO, but in an apparent show of confidence the combined entity will be based at W-D HQ. In light of all this turbulence Publix is probably sitting pretty.
