Wellwood

Wellwood was a New England chain of variety stores that lasted from the 1940s to the 1980s when CVS made them an offer they couldn't refuse.  I remember the locations at Northgate and Westgate in Portland, ME when I was growing up.  Stores like Wellwood and LaVerdiere's thrived as drug store/variety score hybrids until Maine repealed the blue laws, sealing their fate.
