Books-A-Million is working quickly to get the former Borders locations up and running under the new banner; Concord, NH is already open:

That's a good news that these empty Borders stores are getting filled quickly.

It's too bad they didn't take over the Borders at The Meriden Square Mall. If Old Navy wasn't in such a hurry to move from the other end of Meriden into the mall they could've taken that spot instead of forcing 6-8 tenants to relocate elsewhere in the mall.

The South Portland store, at least, doesn't mention Books-A-Million in its print advertising, preferring the BAM! moniker.  It's also stressing that it's more than just a book store, including its in-store Joe Muggs Cafe. Edit 12/26/11: You can see it faintly off to the right of the Macy's (still sporting its 1970 Jordan Marsh exterior!) in this current photo:
