This might seem a bit redundant, but perhaps Walmart's supermarket concept deserves its own place in the Grocery/Supermarkets section.

Walmart is looking to build a Market in Somerville, MA:

Walmart is running into resistance from the usual suspects in its effort to open a Market in Somerville, MA at a former Circuit City:

I read about this, and is this different than the Wal-mart neighborhood market (I have been to those around Florida and Alabama)

According to the additional Boston Globe story I linked to the Market concept has been tweaked over time and apparently Walmart feels ready to roll it out in a number of new markets.  I wonder if they will use Market to get its grocery assortment into some other places, such as Vermont, where they have had difficulty expanding.

The experimental Marketside format will be officially mothballed when the last of their locations close next week.  Walmart will focus on its Express and Neighborhood Market formats going forward.
