I was inspired by Zayre88's post about U.S. stores in Canada when I created this list. A lot of our American retailers expand beyond Canada to places like Australia and New Zealand. These markets are also quite similar to the United States and Canada.

Kmart:
More upscale than their American counterparts since Coles' decision to acquire full control of the chain since 1978, Kmart was founded in Australia as a joint venture between G.J. Coles & Coy (later known as Coles Myer, then Coles Group Ltd.) and S.S. Kresge Co. The New Zealand locations opened in the 1980s.

Target:
Very similar to their American counterparts, Target Australia was never affiliated with their American counterpart, they both use the bullseye logo and design. Like the American counterpart, clever Aussies also like to pronounce it "tar-zhay."

What about the United Kingdom?

Is Target Australia actually related to the chain here at all?

Target UK is not related to Target US or Australia.
