Chrysler Files for Bankruptcy

My favorite brand (although i drive a FORD) sent shock waves through the industry filing for Chapter 11 Protection and signing a deal with Fiat.

I am sure GM is not too far off from Bankruptcy. If anything, this is the worst time for Auto Manufacturers, but this is history in the making. What happens now will greatly mold the future of the Auto Industry domestically and abroad as well.

It's sad. I am not excited about this "new chrysler" at all.

Thei claim that it will be a quick and easy bankruptcy and that after that, Fiat will bring products so awesome that Chrysler will become a strong company again...


First thing, the bankruptcy will not be a walk in the park.  It's already a tough moment for dealers with sales down 35-50%, imagine selling products from a banrkupt company...

Then, even if Fiat brings new products, it will take a year or two to get them to North American standards, for safety and other things.

Then again, that does not mean that these new cars will be instant hits, generating sales and profits....

So it looks like they will be shedding the Jeep Wrangler and the Dodge Viper. They are listing them as apart of the old Chrysler, which has all the debt. As you may also have heard they are shedding dealerships. I think the criteria they used to eliminate them were unfair.

Now, GM may follow in their footsteps.. this whole car thing is getting ridiculous.  The government should have never stepped in. I love Chrysler, but they should be left to die. If you do not change with the times, you will parish as a company. Of course jobs would be lost, but since when is it the Governments job to be the savior.

So, my question to you all is, if Microsoft, Time-Warner, Comcast, Sprint, etc... fail should the government save them? Because my view point is.. if you do it for one you have to do it for all.. socialism.
