Abandon Exxon in West Mifflin PA.

A former Exxon. This one appears to have opened after the ExxonMobil merger, but closed by 2003.

The pylon sign probably looked like this. Exxon and Mobil merged in 1999 and remodeled many of both companies' stations. They sold Exxon and Mobil stations in New Jersey to ConocoPhillips, as well as Mobil stations in Pennsylvania as a condition of their merger. ConocoPhillips would get to use the Exxon and Mobil trademarks for at least ten years. They however ended up selling the stations to Lukoil in 2004.

I forgot to mention the "Kwik Farms" store was originally a Circle K. Circle K was long owned by Tosco Corporation, a longtime Mobil franchisee which was acquired by ConocoPhillips. Circle K was later sold to French-Canadian company Couche-Tard. These Circle K stores were converted a while before the Mobil/Exxon names, and this eliminated Circle K from the Philadelphia area. Kwik Farms is Lukoil's own brand. Non-Circle K convenience stores at these stations are now just called "mini mart".

One close to me that closed was demolished for a war memorial. This one probably closed because there was an Exxon across the street.

videogamer75

^ That one was demolished for a good reason, then :)

There's one on Union Street here in Bangor that has the EXACT same architecture...I actually did a double-take when I saw the photo!

Plenty of both here in CT.

Is the Mobil in Southington with Dunkin Donuts still there?

Marc82

Yes, but the DD is next to the Mobil not inside to the Mobil.

It's actually ''Amoco'', not ''Amacco''. There used to be a bunch of them in my area, most of them either got converted to BP or independent gas stations.

A gas station that was recently converted to a BP on Route 69 about halfway between Bristol, CT and Waterbury, CT closed down. It had to have closed within the past 4 weeks. It was still open the last time I went to Waterbury 4 weeks ago on the December 2nd. Also there continues to be a vacant Mobil station on 69 in Waterbury near The Naugatuck Valley Shopping Center. It's on the corner of 69 and a side street. Not sure what the name of the side street is, but this station has been vacant a long time.

This is a cool/scenic picture.

We used to have two Getty stations, one located near BJ's former Nu-Stars and another almost across from Torrington Plaza. The Getty near BJ's shut down and is now leased by an auto part dealer, the one almost across Torrington Plaza Turned into a BP Station.

Last summer for whatever reason over 200 Getty Stations in New England became BP. There was an article about how the Oil Spill was affecting BP gas stations and it mentioned it. Also the BP in Wolcott I referenced in my December 30th post has since reopened. There's also now a BP Station at the Southington Truck Stop.

I did notice that change.  Suddenly BP stations appeared here and there in New England.

Anyone know the location of the trendsetting Union/Unocal 76 station in Thousand Oaks, CA (and whether or not it still exists as 76)? The design was codenamed "300R."

Offhand I can think it is at 3102 East Thousand Oaks Boulevard.
