All Red Lobster in Maine and NH failed and closed.  Maine already has a lot of places to get good lobster!!

I know that some of them were re-opened as Olive Garden.

My red lobster is right next door (Literally!!!) to my nearest Bugaboo Creek Steakhouse which burned down so i am quite suprised that red lobster didn't burn as well...

BTW, here is a story about RL...

My little sister is in girl scouts and my mother is her troop leader. However at the end of the year everybody's mom went out to dinner to celebrate a successful year. but it wasn't my mother who picked the restaurant, it was the other troop leader that got to pick. and she chose none other than red lobster!! here comes the best part ... No one really wanted to go there!!!! is that weird or what!!!!:insane:

will

There's one here I ate there once or twice about 3 years ago.

IT seems that Red Lobster pulled out of NEw England. LASt Summer when I went to Queensbury NY, I Saw a REd Lobster.

There used to be a Red Lobster in Concord NH (That was my closest one and it is now Chili's), there was Red Lobster in NEwington NH near Fox run mall, it is now a TGI FRIDAY, and there was a REd LObster in Tyngsboro Massachusetts near the NH Border near the Pheasant Lane mall and it is now Smokey bones BBQ, and there was Red Lobster in SOuth portland maine and it is TGI FRIDAY AND I SAW A CLOSED RED LOBSTER IN AUBURN ME. ARRR MAITEY, WHAT HAPPENED TO RED LOBSTER.

Didn't Chris Rock worked at a Red Lobster?

Anyways there's a Red Lobster in Chillicothe and a couple in the Columbus area.  They need a Red Lobster in Huntington, seriously.

It does seem that way - I entered Kittery, Maine in their restaurant locator and it gave me 4 locations - 3 of them were in NY - the only one in New England (CT) was as follows:
1324 SILAS DEANE HIGHWAY WETHERSFIELD CT 06109

Smokey Bones is also a part of the same parent company (like Olive Garden as mentioned above) and therefore would also make sense as a replacement.

We have a red lobster in Huntington. It's across from pullman sqaure and harris river-front park.

When did the Red Lobster open in Huntington?  Has it been there for a while?

First is the Kingston location, on Route 9W - been in here once but don't remember what it was like.

Second is the Albany/Colonie location on Wolf Road - a newer restaurant built to replace a previous (smaller) one on Central Ave (that one is now Smokey Bones) - this one is larger than most that I've seen (and still has a waiting line most times).  Also more open than most - as you enter the bar is right in front of you with seating to both sides - seating areas are divided, but with low walls so you can see both back corners from the main entry - kitchen in the middle behind bar.

Third is the former Pittsfield (MA) location - it sits in the corner of the (still vacant) Bradlees plaza.  Closed quite a few years ago, then was a chinese buffet and now (for a year or two) a 99.

Former Red Lobster in Augusta, now Olive Garden and it has the same exact building shape as the Ninety-Nine above!

I remember when the Newington, NH Red Lobster closed.  I was working at Water Country that summer and some tourist called the cash office (where I was counting out my drawer at the time).  One of the supervisors answered the phone and had to quickly put the phone on hold.  Why?  Somebody had called up our cash office and asked where the nearest Red Lobster was.  We all had a good hard laugh over that one.  Apparently somebody didn't tell those tourists that they were in the fresh seafood capital of the northeast!

I also remember a coworker at a temp job I had said she wouldn't eat at any New England seafood places, only Red Lobster, because she didn't like fresh fish.  I asked her why this was and she said frozen seafood didn't taste fishy.  Then I had to explain to her that if fresh seafood tastes fishy then it isn't really fresh.

This reminds me of what happened in Auburn ME...  Here is part of the Sun Journal article:

"Some years ago, Auburn Economic Development Director Roland Miller called the corporate headquarters for Olive Garden to ask just what his city had to do to lure the popular Italian eatery.

They told him corporate policy was to have a successful Red Lobster in town first; Olive Garden would follow. But Red Lobster flopped in Auburn in 1998 after five years. There are too many places to get lobster in Maine, Miller told them, but Olive Garden would draw in the customers.

"You ought to change your corporate policy," he said.

Short reply: "Absolutely not."

Companies typically have their own crop of analysts scout locations for new restaurants and shops, scouring all sorts of facts and figures.

"They're working out of a formula, where, quite often, there's no room for local knowledge," Miller said. "
