I think you went a bit overboard there. That is going to be a huge mall with all those bigger stores plus a whole bunch of smaller stores.

d_fife

an indoor mall with jcpenny, macy's and sears with a big box center attached with Target, Lowe's, Dick's, Old Navy, Famous Footwear, gamestop, toys r us (though they are not opening any new stores).

thedisneystore967

Okay guys and gals, I have two types of malls I wish I could develop.
One is a huge middle class mall.The other is a tiny upscale mall.
Anyway, here is the TBU(tiny but upscale) List.

DEPARTMENT STORES (Three Anchors)
Neiman Marcus
Bloomingdale's
Saks Fifth Avenue

SMALL STORES (There would only be 25-30 of these type but they would all be enormously upscale.)

1 Lillie Rubin
2 The Sharper Image
3 Gucci
4 Adrienne Vittadini
5 A Pea In The Pod
6 Anthropologie
7 United Colors of Benetton
8 Cartier
9 Coach
10 Cole Haan
11 Wentworth Gallery
12 Restoration Hardware
12 Talbots
13 Bertram's Inkwell
14 Domain
15 The Wall
16 Lindt Chocolates
17 Judith Ripka Jewellry
18 Pildes Optical
19 Sigrid Olsen
20 Z Gallerie
21 White House/Black Market
22 Urban Outfitters
23 Eddie Bauer
24 Vans
25 Burberry
26 Salon Cielo
27 Lladro

RESTAURANTS (there would only be 4)
Bertucci's Wood Oven Pizza
Daily Grill
Maggiano's Little Italy
Corner Bakery Cafe

MINI-ANCHORS
Books-A-Million (Yes I know it's not upscale but we need something more than Borders and B&N in malls!!!)
H & M
Modell's(In case you are wondering thiss tore is there for the same reason as Books-A-Million....only with sporting goods)

Those would be the stores in my Tiny Upscale Mall.

This is Danny signing off!!!:D

Not sure if it is in the right place, but..

This is a thread where you can make up your own mall and create your own story about it, like how it failed or succeeded, and how the anchors changed etc.

Example:

The Dakota Circle mall opened it 1960. It had a single enclosed strip of shops at the time, and anchored with Caldor.

In 1965, a new anchor, Penney's was announced. It was completed in 1967, and attracted 40 billion customers on its grand opening.

Sadly, in 1972, a riot broke out in the mall. A huge fire damaged most of the mall, and required it to be closed for extensive renovation. The renovations were completed in 1976, and a food court and Montgomery Ward were added.

In 1980, a small fight broke out in the mall. The fight started as a slap-fight in the food court but quickly grew into a brutal melee with 8 people involved. 5 went to the hospital with minor injuries. Although this was a small fight, the town decided to put a police station in the mall to improve security.

Then, in 1988, a much larger competitor opened up not to far from Dakota Circle, causing a huge loss in sales. Penneys, now JCPenney, Closed up their store and moved to the other mall.

In 1993, a flea market occupied former JCPenney for a couple days.

By 1994, the wing of the former JCPenney was lifeless. Several stores had closed due to the loss of a major anchor.

In 1999, the Caldor in the mall closed due to bankruptcy. Montgomery ward was now the only anchor holding the mall together. Due to the loss of customers, the fountain was shut down, to save money. A few food court stores, including the "Famous" McDonalds, moved away, thus killing the mall even more.

Then, at 2000, Montgomery Ward put the final nail in the coffin. The store shuttered, soon followed by the rest of the stores in the mall. However, due to the town's lack of money at the time, the mall sat abandoned for several more years.

Then in 2006, the mall was slated for demolition. By June, construction crews had demolished the former Montgomery Ward. By 2007 the mall was completely flattened, and the space was put for sale.

In July 2007, Wal-Mart purchased the area, and began construction on a Supercenter, which was completed by 2008.

40 Billion Customers?? Very Impressive Grand Opening!! I don't think my store has seen 40 million Customers since it opened in 1990.

Loki

I made a 3D model of a mall that I was going to use as backgrounds for a cartoon about a mummy terrorizing mall workers trapped inside after closing. I called it Mohawk Mall.

Retail Fan+ (Justin Hill)

Delton Mall opened with great fanfare on 2600 Madison Road in Eagle City, Wisconsin (fictional town north of Wisconsin Dells) in 1971 on the site of a golf course with JCPenney, HC Prange, Sears, Montgomery Ward, Prange Way, and Osco Drug. The mall opened with great fanfare and attracted 12 million people from all over southern Wisconsin, including Madison. The mall has a large carousel in the center court. Tenants that opened in the mall on opening day include Musicland, Kinney Shoes, Thom McAn, Karmelkorn, Hot Sam, Eye Caramba!, The Diamond Store, Radio Shack, Nobil Shoes, Mister Donut, County Seat, and Claire's. In 1973, The Eagles came to the mall as part of a promotion with the local radio station, "The Eagle" 97.4 WEGL-FM. That day, the first 1,500 people to come to the mall got an autographed copy of their latest LP record. In 1975, a fire beaks out near JCPenney and Osco, destroying eight stores. That part of the mall was fixed by 1977. In 1981, the mall is expanded, adding a food court near Prange Way. The food court features a McDonald's, Sbarro, 1 Potato 2, Orange Julius, Arby's, Flaming Wok, and Taco Bell. That year, Eye Caramba! is sold to LensCrafters, and the local cable company, Eagle City Cablevision opens its office at the mall in the space vacated by Kinney Shoes.  Montgomery Ward closes in the first round of store closings in 1983, and gets replaced with Kohl's. The mall is expanded again in 1984 with Toys "R" Us opening near JCPenney. In October 1984, a 12-screen movie theater opens in the northwest mall parking lot. In 1986, the mall embarks on a renovation which includes the usage of neon lights and fountains, and a four-faced clock tower in the center court, replacing the carousel. In 1992, HC Prange becomes Younkers. In 1995, Prange Way closes their Delton Mall location after Prange Way files for bankruptcy. Four years later, in January 1999, the space vacated by Prange Way is torn down and replaced with a new wing featuring Hot Topic, AT&T Wireless (later Cingular, now AT&T again), Afterhours Formalwear (later MW Tux) and 12 other specialty shops. The new anchor store for that side of the mall is ShopKo, which opened on April 4, 1999. 1 Potato 2 is replaced with Subway in the food court. The mall is expanded again in 2001, with an upscale hotel and indoor water park open in the mall's southwest parking lot. The Sears location closes it's Delton Mall location in 2004. The Sears location is then torn down, and replaced with TJ Maxx and Barnes & Noble. In 2008, a childrens museum opens near TJ Maxx. In 2009, the mall is still open, despite the fact that Walmart plans to open a Supercenter across the street (Madison Road has been renamed Ronald Reagan Drive in 2006).

Here's a homemade sign I made for a mall I made up - West Berlin Centre Mall in West Berlin, New Jersey. The original anchors would be Jamesway, Acme, and Boscov's, and the current ones would be the same but with Wal-Mart instead of Jamesway. There will also be an expansion at some point featuring several big box stores such as Best Buy. I didn't make up the whole story yet.

How does Home Depot destroy malls? They're a hardware/home improvement store, something you almost never see in a mall. They don't in any way compete.

Some Wal-Marts do have mall entrances actually, the one in Beaver Dam, WI does at last check and I know a LOT of Wally Worlds have them in Canada and Mexico. But really they (and THD) only tear down malls if they've been closed for a long time, and that's a good thing actually. It might not be for us retail fanatics, but it brings in more tax revenue to the city and it creates lots of new jobs in the area, which actually benefits the town. Much moreso than the vacant mall did.

soon that mall will be home to a new wal mart super center after its done killing it unless theres any other ancore stores there

anyways heres a new mall that i made up called the westchester center opend in 1985 with a sears montgomery ward bradlees and jc penny opend in 1986 and macys opend in 1988 in 1993 the mall was expanded with 3 new wings and added a caldor,Filenes and Boscoves in 1996 smaller expations was added on that featrued a toys r us, kids r us, levites, and barns n noble also a stop and shop was added on along with a franks nursery

in 1999 caldor closed and the space stayed vacant untill 2002 when it was split into a linnens N Things and circuit city

still i just dont think a mall can  benefit from a wal mart they just dont mix with malls same gos  for other stores as well

Very true, Just take a look a The Rhode Island Mall, It doesn't quite get the benefit from their Walmart, especially when it doesn't open into the mall!

soon that mall will be home to a new wal mart super center after its done killing it unless theres any other ancore stores there

Well Kohl's & Sears are the other anchors, and according to the site "Dead Malls" Many of the mall's vacant spaces have been purchased by Royal Ahold, owners of the Stop & Shop supermarket franchise.

So, Royal Ahold might be attempting to keep the Wal-Mart from being converted to a Supercenter.

So will we see a Walmart Supercenter? Possibillity is still kinda high.

The story of Eagle City Mall begins with the story of the city of Eagle City, itself. Eagle City, established in 1699, was a city located in the state of Generica. The states that border Generica are as followed: Wisconsin, New Hampshire, Arkansas, Florida, Indiana, Oregon, and Texas. The first settlers in Eagle City were the French. The city was then known as New Paris, and was a major fur trading post. In 1779 when the British took over, the name was changed to Generica City. When the Americans took over Generica City from the British, the name was finally changed to Eagle City.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On October 21, 1973, a new mall opened in Eagle City, off of Interstate 6, it was known as Eagle City Mall. It's first anchors were Bradlees, Kohl's, Montgomery Ward, and Sears, and 254 smaller stores. The mall opened with great fanfare, 1,453 people attended the grand opening ceremony. In 1990, an expansion with Caldor opened. The first 200 people who showed up to the grand opening of Caldor received an NES with a copy of Super Mario Bros. 3. A new food court which included a Burger King, Taco John's, Subway and Sbarro also opened that same year. Caldor closed in 1999, followed by Bradlees, in 2000, followed by Wards in 2001. ShopKo replaced Caldor, JCPenney replaced Bradlees, and Dillards replaced Wards. The mall still continues to prosper to this day, even with new tourist attractions opening up nearby, such as an outdoor Nickelodeon Universe theme park with its own Nickelodeon TV Studio, Nick Hotel, and a 50 foot bronze statue of SpongeBob SquarePants, directly located across Interstate 6 (The New Hampshire-Wisconsin-Florida Expressway) from Eagle City Mall.
Isn't this conversation a little bit off topic?:huh:
I know that there's dozens of malls that benefit from ShopKo being an anchor at a mall. The same goes for Kmart and Target. Very few Walmarts have mall locations, as they prefer to operate out of their Supercenter locations.
