These are some pictures my friend and I took at WXCT AM 990 in Southington, Connecticut. I was involved with this station from 2002-2004. Sadly today the station does nothing but relay the Spanish language Christan Programming from the internet feed of Radio Cantico Nuevo, which is based at WNSW 1430 in NYC.

1. THE WXCT LOBBY

This picture was taken through a window. The door just beyond the desk with the fax machine on it led to the General Managers office.

2. The WXCT ON-AIR STUDIO

Again this picture was taken through a window. This was where all WXCT's live programming originated from. Today it's only used for The Italian show that airs Sundays 8:30AM-1:00PM. Presumably that computer is used to feed the internet feed of Radio Cantico Nuevo over the airwaves of 990 AM from WNSW in NYC. Yes the station's programming comes from a webstream. That's why it sounds horrible. The window in the back is the Transmitter Room.

3. THE WXCT TOWER

One of WXCT's 2 towers. That is a NEXTEL REPEATER mounted on it. It was installed in October 2006. The station got national exposure in a communications magazine about this. They say it was one of the first times a cell phone repeater was  installed on an AM station's tower.  WXCT is 2500 watts Day/80 watts Night.

4. THE OTHER WXCT TOWER

WXCT's other tower. WXCT is 2500 watts Day/80 watts Night

5. SIGN ON THE WXCT BUILDING.

5 years after changing its calls to WXCT, the sign on the building still says WNTY. The station has been located in this building since signing on in 1969.

That is just like the radio station studio on Mullin Street in Watertown, NY.  The last time I went by there last year, it still said "T93" on the outside of the building.  This is years after the station moved to 93.3 from 93.5 and changed calls from WTNY-FM to WCIZ.

If you think that's old and scary, you should have seen the old WMEB studio, which relocated to a much fancier place in 2003...I was a DJ at that station from 2001-2006, off and on.
