Home Depot and Wal-mart and more stores 2 of them getting built now,i went to the wal-mart there nice inside ,too nice i accidently went into the ladies room in the back i felt soo embarassed. :(

they had a Cvs when the 2 main anchor stores closed so i guess they coudlnt survived by themselves with mainly small stores :(

i coudlnt believe ocean st job lot and chicopee savings bank  was still open even after the demise of the fairfield mall (theyre in front of the mall in one building) good thing!

Their is a Mall in Auburn Ny called Fingerlakesmall open in 1980 mall almost closed its doors but the kmart Closing saved the mall. because Kmart was Bankupt. the mall was ancored Small Sears Kmart Jcpenney. that it. all the stores inside the mall was empty. and was in talk of closing the doors. the mall had 3 different owners in 2 years the lakt preson That Bought Fingerlakes mall wanted to compete with Carousel Mall sience Fingerlakes mall is only 400,000 sf Carousel Mall is much bigger and wanted Bass pro shops. Bass Pro shops said no to Carousel and said yes to Fingerlakes Mall. Now Fingerlakesmall is no longer a dead now their is talks about adding on to the mall,

If you guys want to post a mall for us(me, Pete, and Brian) to put on www.deadmalls.com, just send us an email. Ot send it to me at jthomas@deadmalls.com, and I'll foward it to Brian. Your submission doesn't have to be for a completely dead mall.

Also, it was "Wilmorite" who owned Penn Can Mall Wink

Main Place Mall Buffalo, NY. Built in 1966-68. It's the only mall in Downtown Buffalo, and is 1 of 2 left. Mostly dead, but a few chain stores are left, like Payless and Waldenbooks.

Anybody remember Camelot Music? My dad used to shop here for LP's in the late 70's. Now a dollar store. And they didn't even bother to paint over the old Camelot sign!!

BRISTOL Centre Mall
old mall built in 1969 my dad got exterior pictures of it I'm planning to get as much interior pictures as posssible one store had a Bradlees Cart and pre-rainbow Caldor cart NO LIE! Bristols planning to move the tenants out and demolish it in a year for a possible street mall, the malls failing,it was expected to rejuvinate Bristol after the 1955 flood NOT

sadly you will not see the pictures the camera I'm using is not digital

Eastern Hills Mall in Amherst Mall is the closest mall to us. Only about 7 miles away, maybe less. Built in 1971 with a major renovation in the mid-late 80's and another going on right now. The 4 Main anchors are:

Sears- Same exterior from 1971, but the interior has been heavily renovated over the years. However, very recently, I noticed some paint scraped away on the side of the escalator revealing some fake wood trim underneath. Niice.

JCPenney- Same exterior from 1971, but the facades were touched up in the early 90's. Interior was renovated last in the early-mid 80's, I'm gonna guess. Carpet is original. Probably the most dated store of the anchors.

Kaufmann's- A regional chain owned by May's. Formerly Hengerer's (Local chain) then Sibley's (Regional). Became Kauffman's in the late 80's. Same exterior from 1971, insides from the early 80's (Probably last remodeled when Sibley's took over in 1982-83). Wood floor upstairs is orginal. Also quite a dated store, it even rivals Penney's in some places!!

The Bon-Ton- Formerly AM&A's (Local chain) untill 1995. Exterior is mostly orginal with, like Penney's, facades updated some time in the early 90's. Interior was redone sometime in the 80's.

Other past anchors were Jenn's (Regional chain) which closed in 2001 and was a Burlington Coat factory until 2003. Now Dave and Buster's. When I peeked through the doors, they were in the process of ripping out the escalator and closing off the second floor. The other was Waccamaw Home Decor (More info on this store on my Waccamaw page), which was a very early 90's store and was never very sucessful, as with the whole chain. The store closed in 1998 and Waccamaw was out by 2000. Currently an RV dealer is in it's place, using the same Waccamaw interior. A sad store for it's age.

I took a bunch of Interior Pics, they're out being developed, including Pics of all the anchors except Jenn's. Luckilly, I was able to dodge most store employees.  I did get caught in Sears and got a weird stare. So I blurted out very loud as I went down the escalator, "Mom, 20 years from now you gotta know what this place looked like 20 years ago!!" Hopefully that thwarted her suspicion. I have yet to get exterior pics (We usually go to the mall at nite) but I will when I can.

PS Caldor1999 I know what it's like not to have a digital camera. My camera just broke (for no reason) so I had to complete my photos using a one-time use. From now on I think I'll just use my sister's digital.
