I should say that my local TRU still seems to be going strong.

That is the mentality of people and society as a whole. Its that they don't want to pay more for their items. And, let's face it, at Wal-Mart you will find a lower price than you would at Toys R Us.

TRU will match WalMart and Target prices. Just let them know at the counter and they will call a local store.

I dont think they are going anywhere anytime soon.

plus, they are making huge money at their BabiesRus stores.  They are always packed, and everything seems to sell for MSRP.  I can almost always find stuff cheaper elsewhere, but never all under 1 roof like babies r us has.   So, even if toysrus is hurting, the babies r us franchise seems solid.

I thought that they separate companies... I heard that an investment groups owns one, but not the other...

No, Toys R Us and Babies R Us are the same.

I tried returning a PS2 game a while back that was defective and didn't play, at the Auburn, MA location.  The disc printing and pressing was clearly way offset.  They went though the trouble of pulling out an actual PS2 and trying the game to make sure I wasn't BSing them!  It took over 25 minutes!  Then they gave me a hard time about giving my money back as I saw the game $10 cheaper at Wal-Mart.
