It looks great, since I took this picture this spring when I washed it this spring. Now it's all dirty, and I think I have a few more dents. The previous owner was this elderly car, but the car was dirty as hell inside and all scraped up on the outside. The carpet is ruined on the drivers side, and some of the door panels have dings, but damn lots of people say the car looks new. This car is rusty underneath, but no holes yet. Runs and handles well... I get a lot of flank for driving a granny car, and a purple car, but dammit I'm going to miss this car when I have to sell it this November.

Plus on the other side, the rear quarter is shot on the bottom, and a big dent in the drivers door.

It has low miles and is a perfect winter beater. I only got stuck once.

As much as I love this car, I won't be buying another Ford anytime soon, sorry...

C. Fontaine

Ah, theres nothing wrong with owning a Ford!  I had an Escort, then a decked out Focus, and now working on decking out another Focus.  My Foci have been very reliable, neither ever had any problems other than normal wear and tear like oil and brakes, and my current one has a bumper to bumper 100,000/m warranty.

My Focus now also had only one prior owner and elderly, a 92 year old guy who bought it from the dealership!  Its good knowing your car wasn't beat on.  That's a pretty nice car though, color isn't too bad by the looks of it!  What kind of car are you looking at buying?

david121

I took my road test in a '95 Escort wagon, and learned, well failed miserbly at learning stick in a '93 Escort.

I'm not a big fan on how the US lineup is, just compare it to europe and asia... its a lot nicer over there. Hell, I looked at an 06 Taurus, and it was the same more or less as my 1996. It had a different exterior and interior, but it felt the same, and it had a tape deck, despite having sporty gauges, leather all around. Come on now.

As for this car, The break adjuster always comes loose for some reason... dunno why, yet it breaks perfectly. Go figure.. Blew a head gasket at 50,000, leaks antifreeze once in a while, went through a set of motor mounts and the car only has 64,000 miles on it. I did get ten years out of the original tires, and nine outta the original battery.

What I'm looking at buying is 2003 Buick Rendezvous... once I get out of basic training. Its my dad's, and he's owned it since new and the wholesale price on it is cheap too...  gets damn good mileage for a SUV... 29 in the city and 32 highway. Nicely loaded too.

C. Fontaine

Yeah, I took my frivers test in a Focus and ended up in them, I'm a pretty avid Focus addict.  Especially after my last major accident, the car saved my life.

I'll admit the Rendezvous are good looking cars, unlike Buicks typical senior citizen geared vehicles.

I need another job to so I can get a bigger car. I have to have the seat partially reclined in my Sunfire because I'm 6ft 2in tall. If I don't have the seat reclined my head touches the top of the interior of the car and I have trouble seeing. I always thought my big gut was what was gonna cause me not to fit into a car, but in this case plenty of gut room. Little Head Room. I have plenty of room (gut and head room) in my mom's new to her 06 Malibu. And I had enough head and gut room in my father's 02 Elantra and his 01 Sabb Station wagon. He doesn't have either vehicle now. He's got a pick up truck.

The one thing I liked about that Chevy Trailblazer I rented while in Philly was the fact I didn't have to have the seat reclined while driving, even tho once I got to my hotel I didn't leave it.

david121

Well I love granny cars... I love the Malibu from 04-present.

My mom has a Buick Rainer which is just the Buick version of the Trailblazer... and it's nice.

C. Fontaine

I agree the newer Malibu's are hot.  I had a 2007 for a rental for a few weeks, I wish I could have kept it!

Mine is a hunter green 96 Chevy Blazer 4x4 4-door runs like a little champ...I love this thing. When it dies I'm buying another one. It's purpose is to deliver newspapers, almost 400 a day actually, and it works wonders. Also awesome when taking a crapload of people to the funpark and waterpark. I LOVE it. My kids love it. Never getting anything but a Chevy from now on, yes I know my Dodge-daddy is rolling in his florida duplex...he fixes Dodge, was one of the first to be trained on fixing the Viper when it first came out. ;) Aight enough about me...how about you??

I know I said I was forever going to keep getting Chevy's, but when my baby Blazer died, earlier than expected, I had to do what I could in a pinch...So now I am the (not so) proud owner of a 1990 Cutlass Supreme, 4 door, windows have HANDLES omg...no automatic locks or nothing...the radio doesn't even have a CD OR TAPE player!!! ughhhh!!! but I had to get something...and this one gets me to school and back (usually...) with rust and all...

It's amazing in 20 years time all the things that were once an extra option you got charged for are now pretty much just built standard into a new car.
There is a lot in store for you where clean, fresh and good make a GRAND UNION.

What's worse is that I'm sad about it all lol I wish I had automatic windows. If I go back to newspapers then it's totally easier in the winter to have automatic windows...

I wish............. That would be the biggest piece of memorabilia that I've ever collected. I could use the Grand Union trailer to store other Grand Union artifacts I'd like to collect from closed or potential remodeling store locations.

Yes, the location remains open and still has tons of original marketing inside the store. It's like a time capsule near the service desk with the red signs with white lettering in GU font type.
Sadly I didn't charge the camera phone so I was unable to get some good shots of the signage. Maybe I'll venture that way again in the spring or find another store location with vintage marketing!!

Nice car!  Not sure if I mentioned anything on here but back in November I totaled my Grey Focus.  Since then I have bought two vehicles.  First is a brand new 2010 Elantra SE, since this picture I've added a stock spoiler for style.  Secondly about a month ago I got a good deal on a green 1998 Ford Ranger so I can go 4-wheeling out here in the country.  Already been a few times under some powerlines, can't believe what I've been missing with a car!

Geez Chris, you've been going through cars at a supersonic rate! Why did you choose Hyundai over a newer Ford?

Because Hyundai gave me a way better deal and APR.  I wanted so much to go with Ford again because of their performance above the other American brands but just couldn't afford it.  Hyundai runs a lot of programs for people with less than perfect credit, and I'm sure that's part of how Ford came back to life is tightening credit standards.
