Hi.  Does anyone remember a chain called "Century?"  I believe that its full name was "Century Housewares."  I thought that david 121 might not remember it personally but might possibly have heard of this store.  It was located in Watertown, NY, for most of the 1960's and 1970's on West Main Street then moved to the Stateway Plaza in the mid-1970's where the Aaron's store is now.  I don't know if the chain went bankrupt or not but have been gone since the early or mid-1980's.

Century Housewares was a catalog showroom chain headquartered in Buffalo, NY.  At one time they had 54 stores, mostly in NY, PA, OH, IN, MI, MD and FL.  The company went out of business in March 1985.  I was a store manager with them for 9 years, in Auburn NY, Mansfield OH, Elyria, OH, Altoona, PA and Jacksonville Fl.
