Oscoda, Michigan
* IGA, closed 2003?, now Dollar General
* A&P, closed 1992, became Big Value 1993, Carter's late 1993, closed 2007, vacant

East Tawas:
*Giantway. Closed early 1990s, became Glen's, closed late 1990s. Save-a-Lot is now in 1/3 of the old store, the middle portion is still vacant (!), and the other 1/3 is now a health center.
*Kroger. Started out on one side of US23 in what is now a Sears. Moved across street late 1970s (?) into what became Carter's IGA 1983. Closed 2007, now Neiman's Family Market.

Alpena:
*Tempo. Closed 1980s?, became Fisher's Big Wheel, then Quality Farm & Fleet and vacant space, now Tractor Supply, Dollar Tree and vacant space. There's an A&P in the same plaza which closed ca. 1992, became Ripley Street Station, and has been closed for a few years now.
*Kroger. Downtown location became Glen's 1980s, closed late 1990s, now Save-a-Lot. South of town location became IGA 1980s and is now Neiman's Family Market.
*Giantway. One south of town became Glen's early 1990s, closed late 1990s, now Big Lots. The other was downtown and is now  offices.
*Kresge. Became McCrory 1987, then Smart Valu Variety, now vacant. Same plaza as the downtown Kroger.

Alpena Mall has had plenty of closures in the past 5 years, including KB Toys (former Circus World), Fashion Bug, f.y.e. (former Camelot Music), Pearle Vision, Regis Hair Salon, Hallmark, Lee's Clothing (former Winkleman's). Long before this, the south anchor was Kmart, which moved across the street. The former Kmart became Stage (now Glik's), Gordon Food Services, and one empty section remains.

Bay City:
*Hampton Towne Centre. Opened mid 1970s with Kmart and local chain Wiechmann's. JCPenney added on in 1990, only to move two years later to Bay City Mall (which itself opened in 1991). After Wiechmann's closed in 1993, the whole mall went into a tailspin. Kmart closed in 2003, and since then it's been almost entirely composed of offices. Wiechmann's is now a school, and the former JCP is now a Family independence agency. Behind Wiechmann's is a former A&P which closed ca. 1992 and is now a thrift shop.
*Giantway. There were several, as this was the chain's home base. One on Center Rd. is now a Save-a-Lot, one on M-13 at M-84 is now a fruit market, and I forget the rest.
*Farmer Jack. Here's a strange one. Farmer Jack was in the middle of this plaza. Between it and the strip's south anchor (Wal-Mart) was a string of shops. After FJ closed, the stores in that strip subdivided the former FJ space, and that whole south half of the strip (from FJ to the existing WM building) was torn down to expand the WM.
*Countless chains at Bay City Mall, including Villa Pizza, Limited (early 1990s), Sveden House, County Seat (late 90s), Lerner (ca. 2004), Dollar Tree, Fashion Bug (moved out), Foot Locker (closed, re-opened, closed again), Finish Line, Pac Sun, Wilson Leather, etc.
