This 2-level mall in Milford, CT is anchored by JC Penney, Filene's, and Sears. The Sears was opened just a couple years ago. Filene's was recently renovated and a third floor was added. JC Penney was also renovated and expanded. It is unique that the food court has its own floor on the 3rd floor. A banner in the mall claims Target, Dick's Sporting Goods, Cinema de Luxe, several specialty shops, new restaurants, and a family loungue will open in the spring. Steve and Barry's University Wear recently opened in the former Kitchen Etc which at one time was Nobody Beats the Wiz. Caldor and Stop and Shop anchored the mall at one time. Stop and Shop moved to a newer location while Caldor stayed open until the chain went under.
The mall goes through cycles - sometimes doing well other times not doing good. It is going through a great cycle with two new parking garages open.
the mall was built in 1961 and was upgraded in 1991. The mall ahd a child world toy store. It was probably where nobody beats the wiz was. The mall is in an ideal place is it is situated halfway between new haven and bridgeport.
Isnt it kind of weird that the lower level just ends 2/3 of the way down? Was this where Caldor used to have storage? I heard they used to be on the upper level of the mall. Hopefully their expansion will open up the lower level and have it the same length at the upper level.

For history of CT Post. Past anchors were Nobody Beats the Wiz, Caldor, and Stop and Shop. Here is a map
Old Map
Red block above on left side should read CALDOR.........
Here is the current map.....
Changes since then.......
Old Kitchen Etc/Wiz store now a Dave and Barrys University Wear Store
Target/Dick's Sporting Goods/Cinema to go in former Caldor space
2 new garages with 2 floors built next to Target and JC Penney.
kb toys here was one of the stores that did not get its lease negotiated in teh 2nd round of closings and was on list B" potential closings.
is the old caldor still there?
hears a picture of that caldor
The old Caldor is completely demolished. At one time CT Post Mall management had a complete history of the mall with landmark dates. It was located in the windows in the old Kitchen Etc to fill up storefront space. They had old photos in the window and blew up old newspaper articles about the mall. I remember being in the Caldor at the mall and it was a nice one. I hope the Target will be a really big nice store. Kinda funny since both Caldor and Target had red in the logo making them unqiue.

what other toy store?
I highly recommend this mall: New Food court NOW OPEN, Target OPEN, New Borders OPEN, New Dick's Sporting Goods OPEN, Several new restaurants and specialty stores OPEN, New Cinema De Luxe with many concession choices OPEN, Increased Security and Police presence, Old Food Court being renovated on 3rd floor for unknown future use, Large 3-floor newly renovated Filene's NOW MACY'S. This place is MUCH better than when Caldor was in the mall.
Westfield Connecticut Post is quite possibly one of the nicest malls in Connecticut and surely one of the most up to date. Westfield Meriden is trying to mirror this treatment by adding a Borders aside from the Dick's and Best Buy already in the mall.
Here's the sleek new Target store which newly anchors the mall. Both photos taken by myself back in August.
Wasn't the caldor Space -- Alexander's? I know Alexander's was there!

Caldor was located where Dick's Sporting Goods is now.
JCPenney is in the former Alexander's space.
