Looks like they did some construction on it or maybe taking it down.

Wow! This is a very old picture at most the 1930's. It is somewhere in Connecticut.

there was a Sage allen in the steeplegate mall. It was vacant for 7 years until BOn-ton their mens store there. the chain closed in fall 1992. There was a SAge Allen in the searstown mall in leomisnter and that is where circuit city is.

Sage-Allen was like Filene's. They anchored a lot of malls that just opened. Like East Brook Mall in Mansfield (a small store) which is now a JC Penney. They anchored Buckland Hills Mall (2 floors), now a Dick's Sporting Goods. They anchored Old Saybrook Shopping Center (big store), now occuiped by Marshalls and Pier 1 Imports. They anchored Holoyke Mall at one time.

Sage-Allen. It anchored the Westfarms Mall when it opened. I remember visiting as a child -- the flooring tiles resembled red shoelaces. It closed in the early 90's when Filene's announced it's expansions to Connecticut. The location fell victim to a Filene's Men's/Furniture Store as it stands today. The exterior still looks *very* old which is a trend for that side of the mall (near a JCPenney which really needs an exterior renovation already).

Here's a gift box from Sage-Allen. It most likely came from the former store in the Westfarms Mall. Kudos to my grandmother's house and her treasure trove closets.

Here's a Sage-Allen price sticker found off a small box of perfume. Again, my grandmother's house.

It is being remodeled into apartments and housing for University Of Hartford Students. It will look nice when it is finished. I just hope the clock will be there still??

East Hartford had a Sage-Allen on Main Street...it is now a Gym.  My mom used to buy my school clothes from them or the big shopping center (The Manchester Parkade).

Sage-Allen was one of the original anchors of the East Brook Mall back in 1977. It closed in 1994.
