Yeah a cool green HQ cart. I was surprised to find these at that Building19. And i do remember seing Caldor carts at Bradlees with a Bradlees sticker over the Caldor logo.
Here's another Caldor cart at Marden's in Portland ME.

Actually the carts were dark brown and Bradlees reused them in their stores that were former Caldors.
One of the most unique carts I've ever seen!
i know the older caldor carts were dark bronw in the 80's byt the 90's caldor carts were black

Sounded like an "Old School" Caldor. Mine was too, built in 1979, closed in 1999.
Old Caldor shopping carts at Dollar Tree in Norwichtown Mall....used by employees for bringing stock out on sales floor.
my Caldor had black carts with the Caldor logo in white letters. Towards the end, when other stores were closing, our store recieved carts with the plain and rainbow logos. Those were brown carts.
A Caldor cart at the Colonie Salvation Army store. There are about 5 there. I only have a closeup of the logo. I can try to get better pics when I go back there again. This pic is from 2003, and I've never thought about getting more pics since then. I go there frequently, so I probably should take more pics. This cart is probably from the Crossgates Mall Caldor.
Here's another. This one is most likely from the Albany-Central Ave store.
Amazing find in your last post! That looks like a 1960s pre-rainbow cart! I found that same latest model black Caldor cart at a National Wholesale Liquidators in East Haven, CT.
See my Facebook album (http://ccsu.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2007808&l=f9207&id=48807574) for a couple more shots of it.
well, I'm not really sure of the years of this cart. That SA has about 5 of those plain logo carts, and about the same amount of newer Caldor carts. The plain logo came after the rainbow logo though, so I believe its an 80's shopping cart..not sure though. Shopping carts aren't my specialty..hehe
I believe the generation goes like this. The "rainbow" era lasted throughout the late 1970s, early 1980s and the white lettering was probably in the age before the rainbow or when they had the normal orange lettering. I know my local older Caldor stores had the rainbow design up throughout the 1980s and early 90s (actually my local stores had the rainbow-design up until closing) so I'm really not sure. Maybe the white lettering was late 1980s? I know the black carts were used as the latest ones.
I would also guess that the brown cart is from the Central Ave store - that one still had the orange letter logo for most (if not all) of it's life. I know one (or more) of the Albany stores had the metal/yellow carts at one time also (probably this one also), but I think they were all replaced by plastic ones at some point.
the caldor cart u saw were introduced in teh early 1990's so tat is not an 80's car caldor carts in teh 80's were a dark brown with the orage logo on it well at least teh ones i have seen were teh resion why it loosk liek that is because it hasd faed over teh past 7 years making it look older then it really is
Here's a fleet of old Caldor carts at the Salvation Army on Oswego Road in Liverpool, NY.
Here's an ancient Caldor cart my brother and I spotted right down the road from me while going to Advance Auto Parts! Yet another brand gobbled up by OSJL!

Wow! What a find - I knew there were rainbow Caldor carts out there. Let me tell you if I saw that, it would be sticking out of my trunk in the next few minutes. Here's a typical one I found behind the Shaw's near a former Caldor (turned Ames) in Stoneham, Mass.
Still a shocking find seeing as Caldor shut down in 1999. One wonders exactly where this cart has been lurking (surviving) around since then.
Here is a newer shot of the older Caldor cart at the Colonie Salvation Army. There are others there, but this was the only one I could get a shot of.
Shot of the newer cart there. Like the older carts, there are more, but I could only get a shot of one.
1990's Caldor cart sighting at Building 19 1/15 (?) in Nashua, NH. They were caught using all kinds of strange unknown carts and baskets. None of them were as easily recognizable as this one...
Today when I was in Dollar Tree in Newington CT, I happened to peek in the back room that was open, and I noticed a Caldor cart identical to the one pictured above this post. It must have been from the Newington store. It's being used by Dollar Tree for storage.
Saturday night walking by the Salvation Army store on Farmington Ave in Bristol, Connecticut (in the plaza with Sears Appliance & Hardware previously Wollco, Rickles, and Pergament in that order and Big Lots previously Waldbaums) I saw a Caldor Cart (logo in tact) in the window with the rest of the Salvation Army Carts.
About 2 weeks ago I saw a homeless guy walking through Shoprite Plaza in Southington, CT and he was pushing a brown Caldor cart filled with his belongings.
I was at Bristol Plaza last week in Bristol, CT (The plaza with Stop & Shop, TJ MAXX, Savers, and JOB LOT) and I saw an older man pushing a brown Caldor Cart. Man it's been 16 years since they went out.

Here's another. This one is most likely from the Albany-Central Ave store.
Those ones from the Central Ave. location were sent to the Glenville location when they got their modern A&P carts. One of the black ones was dated 6 92.
The Salvation Army in Greece, NY had the big ones. Couldn't read the date as the bottom was badly rusted. Possibly a 1993 or early 1994 model.
