Title: Best Buy in Auburn, Maine closing
Post by: retailisking on August 25, 2017, 09:24:00 PM
They decided not to renew their lease. This is the third Best Buy in Maine to close in recent years including the Biddeford and Topsham stores. In a touch of irony, Best Buy was trying to reduce its per-store footprint, and Auburn was designed with this in mind, and yet this store is being closed in favor of the Augusta store in part because Augusta is larger. Go figure...

That store was part of a shopping center that never fully took off. There is still a large vacant lot to the right of Best Buy, never even paved.

Best buy has only been closing few stores but why has Maine been hard hit, I can see Biddeford as that plz much of it wasnt needed as all that is 12 miles up the road and why Auburns? what was going to be that part of the plz. Is Lewiston auburn a weak market? 20 yrs ago there was rumors of a Toys r us there but it never happened.
