Title: Ames Destroyed by fire-Auburn, NY (1988)

It was caused by a discarded cigarette. I was 5 at the time and could see the flames shooting up in the sky.  I was crying about the toys that were burning.  Since this day I have been petrified of structural fires.  The store ended up rebuilding and opening back up, closing when the chain went out of business.

When I was with Ames in the late 80's we had a store in northern Indiana that was
destroyed by fire.  Same cause.....customer was smoking in the paint department!
